Organic fruit is growing among people trying to live a healthier lifestyle, as well as people who want to protect the environment and believe that the foods that they eat shouldn’t harm the ground that they come from.  This is an excellent belief system that is going to help us to enjoy mother nature for generations to come, and one that more people should adopt.  While more and more farmers are attempting to switch over to organic methods, they are finding that the costs are generally substantially higher than other more conventional farming methods.  There are a few tips for how to save money and still eat organic fruits though.

Organic fruit is grown using natural compounds for pesticides and herbicides.  Weeds do tend to stunt the growth of organic fruit trees, and by getting rid of them with an herbicide the farmers are saving themselves a lot of time, as well as increasing their overall production total.  Farmers usually find out that using the cheaper commercial herbicides and pesticides is a great way to save money, but the bad fact of the matter is that they are saving money initially at the cost of the environment for generations to come.

Because it is so much cheaper to use commercially based herbicides and pesticides to control weed overgrowth as well as bugs and insects, there are more and more farmers reverting back to these methods.  There was a short period in time where a lot of farmers were switching to organic methods, but the costs of sustaining this type of operation, as well as the prices that they have to charge for their markets when it comes time to pack up the produce.  Because of these higher costs associated, it is getting harder and harder to get farmers to grow organic fruit, which means the prices you pay to feed your families is rising steadily.

Even though the prices continually rise for organic fruits and vegetables, you can save yourself some money as well as keeping your family fed with a healthy diet.  What you are going to want to do is only purchase organic foods that are necessary for the week for your family.  You don’t have to purchase everything organic, and just adding a few different types of organic fruits to your families diet is a great way to ensure that they are going to live longer, healthier lives as well as knowing that you are doing your part to protect the environment.
