How To Prevent MRSA From Spreading
If you are concerned about MRSA you will want to do as much reading about what it is and how it spreads. For most people it’s not really a big concern. However if you or someone else is frail and suseptable to picking up germs, knowing how to prevent MRSA from spreading is essential.
First of all, hands need to be washed thoroughly. Make sure the water is warm and that you use liquid soap to clean your hands. Strange as it sounds, many people don’t really know how to wash their hands properly. You need to ensure that you clean between your fingers, your wrists and also under your nails. Remember to clean your hands before and after eating plus if you have come into any contact with germs such as when going to the toilet or blowing your nose.
If for some reason you are unable to clean your hands under running water, you should buy an anti-septic gel which you just rub into the skin and allow it to dry on its own. Keeping one of these tubes of gel in your pocket or handbag is a great idea because you never know when you might need to use it.
Use an anti-bacterial spray on areas which get used a lot such as the toilet handle and also the faucet. This makes sure you reduce the risk of germs being spread about by people who use the toilet. Other areas you might not think about include exercise equipment as people often sweat onto it when they are working out.
Don’t share any personal items such as toothbrushes, razors and towels with other people because they can be harbingers of MRSA.
Unfortunately, MRSA has been so difficult to stamp out because it appears to be resistant to many different chemicals that have been tried on it. However dry steam has been shown to work. There is also a steam cleaner by Monster called SuperClean SC20 that uses a powerful residual biocide Clean Blast AntiBak in with the steam. If you can stand the smell, you can also utilize garlic because it’s a natural anti-septic and anti-bacterial agent that MRSA has not built up a resistance to. However more studies are required to fully understand what the active ingredients are in the garlic and how much is needed.
