Heartburn Remedies That Stop The Burn!

Pryosis, acid reflux, or heartburn as it is often called, is a painful or burning sensation in the esophagus caused by the regurgitation of gastric acid.  The pain can be sudden and deep.  I had heartburn caused by taking too many supplements, but before I knew what it was, I thought I was having a heart attack!  It can be scary if you don’t know what it is, so be sure to get checked out by a doctor.  The pain usually begins in the chest and can radiate to the throat, neck and jaw.  Although it is called heartburn, it has nothing to do with the heart at all.  The digestive juices in your stomach back up out of your stomach into your esophagus.  The stomach has a protective lining to protect you from the acid in your stomach, but the esophagus does not, so it burns.

So what is the heartburn remedy?  Some home remedies for heartburn seem pretty weird, but they work!  The best heartburn home remedy seems to be mustard!  That’s right plain old yellow mustard!  Now it may burn a little going down, but once it’s in your stomach it works instantly.  Mustard is something almost everyone has in the refrigerator too.  So, in the middle of the night, if you are awoken by a burning esophagus, reach for a tablespoon of yellow mustard for some quick relief.

Another great home remedy for heartburn is 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar mixed with honey.  This can also burn a little going down, but will bring relief rather quickly.  Heartburn is usually caused by an acidic diet.  Try to maintain a diet of alkaline forming foods and your problems with heartburn may be gone.  But other things can cause it too, like supplements in my case, and certain medications.

A few more simple heartburn remedies include apples, almonds, lemon juice with water, pickle juice,  and magnesium supplements.  Try a few and see which work for you.
