Headache Remedies
If you are suffering severe headaches, it is best you see a doctor straightaway. If they are less severe, there are some good home remedies for headaches that will help. A very natural remedy for headaches is apple cider vinegar. I’m beginning to think there is nothing apple cider vinegar doesn’t help! Always use natural, unfiltered and unpasteurized Apple Cider Vinegar with the “mother” still in it. This is where all the goodies are. ACV begins as an acid and metabolized into an alkaline in the body. It is extremely rich in potassium which is brain food,. Many of us are deficient in potassium. Take 1-2 tablespoons of ACV in some warm water with honey to sweeten the taste. Feel your headache disappear.
Other natural remedies for headaches include:
*For tension headaches, a good massage is always helpful. Combine 2 drops of wintergreen oil and peppermint oil and massage into the area that is in pain. Also, apply an ice pack to the upper back and neck for headaches caused by worry and stress.
*Apply a hot water bottle or heating pad to the area where you feel tension.
*For headaches caused by sinus congestion the tomato tea recipe is great to unblock congestion and make you breathe easier. Once the congestion is cleared, your headache will feel much better.
*Make sure you eat a clean, whole foods diet. Sometimes headaches are brought on by unsuspecting food allergies. Sugar, food dyes and alcohol are are headaches culprits.
*Foot baths are great ways to relieve headaches because you are drawing the blood away from your head to your feet. Put some Epsom salts in the water for calming magnesium. Many times people who suffer from migraine headaches find that magnesium supplementation helps immensely. Pumpkin seeds are a great source of natural magnesium.
*Feverfew is an herbal headache remedy. It is said to mimic the effects of aspirin. It limits the production of prostaglandins which are responsible for contracting blood vessels. The contracting and expansion of blood vessels is what is thought to produce that pounding sensation one feels in a headache.
