Gout Remedies

Gout, also called metabolic arthritis,  is a build up of uric acid in the body that inflicts more men then women.   This is because women’s bodies seem to expel the uric acid out of their body easier than men.  Gout attacks can be brought on by stress, alcohol or drugs, people who are  overweight, eat a lot of red meat and organ meat, and it can also be genetically passed down.   The flare ups usually occur in the joints, mostly the big toes.  A  gout attack can be sudden and very painful and last 3 to 10 days.

There are things you can do to prevent gout.  The best of the home remedies for gout is to eat a  clean, healthy diet void of all purine foods.    Avoid foods like organ meats, anchovies, sardines, herring, mackerel, seafood, game meats, sugars and sweet breads.  Also, little to no alcohol at all, and lots of water to flush the acid out of the body.  Eat foods that are neutralizing to the acid like cherries and strawberries.  Eggs and low-fat dairy products are good too. What you want to do is alkalize the ph of the body to neutralize the acid.  Gout usually occurs in an acidic body.

Other gout home remedies are:

-Soak the inflicted area in Epsom salts for about 30 minutes.    The salts will draw out the toxins from the skin.

-Celery seed  is a great gout remedy because it stimulates the elimination of uric acid from the body.

-Drink unsweetened cherry juice.  Cherry juice will speed up the elimination of the uric acid.

-Fresh beet juice is a powerful alkalizer as is watermelon.

-One teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and sip slowly over one half hour.

These natural remedies for gout should bring some relief, but if you are in alot of pain  you will want to seek medical attention.
