Are There Natural Remedies For Hair Loss?
Isn’t it funny how we are finding out that so many of the so called wonder drugs aren’t really any better than what Mother Nature has been providing us all along? More and more people are realizing the importance of treating problems with natural remedies instead of with the chemical prescriptions that the big pharmaceutical companies are pushing. And they are receiving great results with a more natural treatment, and spending less money for their hair care.
One area that has been in the news recently is natural remedies to make hair grow. Big Pharma’s answer to this problem is a DHT blocker by the name of Finasteride. This drug does treat the main cause of hair loss, Androgenic alopecia, but it also has some nasty side effects. Two in particular are most unsettling. First, women can not take this drug because of the potential for birth defects in unborn male fetuses. In fact, there is such a concern the women are not even allowed to touch the tablets for fear the drug may be absorbed through the skin.
The second main side effect is a loss of libido in men who take Finasteride. This means a man takes the drug in order to treat his baldness so he can attract women and then he won’t be able to do anything if he is successful. This does not seem like a very good idea to me.
A natural remedy that seems to also block DHT is Saw Palmetto. The extract of this short palm bush has been used for centuries by the native inhabitants of the Southeastern coast of the US. Many people are now trying it as a natural way to make hair grow faster and it seems to be working. Check it out the next time you are in your local natural remedy store. This may be another example of Mother Nature beating the chemists.
